Topic: Installing Polyglossum dictionaries and ORFO 2016 Windows Professional Plus for Russian
Poster: Fredrik Pettersson
I have bought several Russian Polyglossum dictionaries as well as ORFO 2016 Windows Professional Plus and was wondering if anyone else here on ProZ.com have experience of installing these on a Windows 10 laptop (64-bit)?
My specific questions are these:
For the Polyglossum dictionaries, the default for "Destination" is the root folder. Shouldn't I change this to "Program Files"? (Not "Program Files (x86)"?) Would it be possible to have several Polyglossum dictionaries installed at the same time by selecting a different parent folder for each of the Polyglossum dictionaries? (The seller said that he can only have one Polyglossum dictionary installed at one time - as soon as he installs a new Polyglossum dictionary, this installation overwrites the already installed Polyglossum dictionary.)
For the Polyglossum dictionary English-Russian-English dictionary of everyday phrases, it says "Enable User's dictionary". Here in the drop-down, I can choose SWE-RUS. Can anyone elaborate on what this means? These everyday phrases do not include any Swedish phrases, right? But can I still add Swedish translations myself by enabling user's dictionary? The seller said that in any Polyglossum dictionary, I can add my own translations for any dictionary entry in any language. Can someone confirm that this is correct?
Regarding installing ORFO, as I will purchase the 64-bit version of Microsoft Office 2024 desktop edition later this year, I need to install the 64-bit version of ORFO. But anyway, what are the differences between the 64-bit version/32-bit version and the standard version? Because when I purchased ORFO, I received three different versions - 64-bit version, 32-bit version and a standard version.
