Hello, I need to teach CAT tools, but I'm unable to use the original materials I translated for various reasons. What materials could I use as source texts for students to translate that would expose them to typical design, formatting, and localization challenges? Any suggestions? [/quote]
I don't think any CAT tool would expose your students to "typical design, formatting", because the exported target language file will be exactly the same in terms of design and formatting as the source file.
So, CAT tools and "design, formatting" are unrelated topics. In other words, you may have to treat them as two independent topics.
